Decoration at HCA hospice

On 22nd August 2008, the Library Council, facilitated by some of our CCC members went to HCA Hospice to decorate the Day Care Centre. The theme of the deco is sweet-stuff. We decorated the Day Care Centre with pictures of candies, doughnut, chocolates and ice cream out cut out of cardboard boxes. Let's check out the response from the participants!

"I have learnt to not only be active in my CCA but also towards the society. After reminiscing about our actions at the Hospice, it really makes my heart feel warm and hopefully the elderly will also feel the same when they view our hard work."-Chang Yong Sheng

"I hope that my small act would brighten up their days. After this CIP with students from CCC, I find that I could contribute more to the society even as a student. I think both Library Council and CCC can collaborate more in of such activity"- Lim Chia Fong

I am sure the patients will feel happy spending their day at the hospice with such wonderful decorations put up!

Thank you to the Library Council and CCC members who went to facilitate the activity!

Customised Shoes by the Dance Team!

Description of Activity

It was a fundraising event in collaboration with wIll run. Customised shoes were sold over a period of 1 week in school by the Dance Team.

Wan Shu Ning felt that the event have taught her the importance of time management and teamwork. And of course, everyone has a part to play!

"I have learnt to work as a team with the rest of them as this is not an individual duty." -Vivian

"The fundraising event helped me to interact with others. It also taught me the importance of planning well for an event." Maria Christina

I have to agree with those comments by the 3 ladies! Community Involvement Projects do require a lot of commitment and thus the need for time management. It also requires the team to work together as one in order to minimise hiccups during the event.

The activity has also allow them to exercise 3 of the college's values namely Active, Selflessness and Enterprise.

Chinese New Year Concert @ Ling Kwang Home

On 23rd January, CCC organised a concert for Ling Kwang Home residents. CCC, together with Dance, Chorale, Runners Club and Guzheng Ensemble have put up wonderful performances. We performed a skit, song and dance, as well as an easy 5 mins exercise for the old folks there. Let's see what the participants think....

"I feel that this is a very meaningful event as we get to share the joy with those patients at the home just before the Chinese new year. Seeing them smile at the end of every performance just warms my heart." - Jennifer Goh

"We have learnt to sacrifice some of our own time to prepare a performance for the old folks during this occasion. We are glad that we are able to bring joy and laughter to the old folks. "-Nicole

"I realized that the elderly that live in the homes were very easily contented with small gestures even though their family members rarely visit them. This made me feel that we should spend more time with the less fortunate to make them feel treasured. " - Ling Hui

Wow! Glad you guys learnt a lot of important values during the entire experience (: Most importantly, all the participants have definitely enjoyed themselves at the concert!! Doing something from the heart is something that is worth doing. Let's now take a look at some of the photos we took that day.

Well done everyone! Without teamwork, the concert will not be a success. Thanks so much for your efforts (:
